We are currently seeking a highly motivated Indigenous Trainee Residential Supervisor to join our friendly team.Main responsibilities:Assist the Academy and the IET to effectively communicate training times, activities, & other events trainees are to be attendingEnsure trainees are actively involved in Fit for Work, promoting the importance of living & feeling healthy & supporting trainees that are struggling with attendance. Monitor trainee behaviour, encouraging good personal hygiene, healthy diet & maintaining respect and care towards their living environment.Participate in the induction program of new trainees through sharing experiences, delivering team building and life skills sessionsDevelop, deliver, evaluate and continuously refine a comprehensive personal development program for traineesWelcome new trainees entering the program, ensuring their units are ready for new arrivals, providing assistance with airport pickups and ensuring trainees have access to food and services when they first arrive.Monitor and review Indigenous trainees progress and achievement of their pathway plans and report progress to the Wellbeing Manager Provide the following individualised support to trainees in:- Establishing routines and structures. - Assist trainees to access appropriate support to help them through personal challenges - Providing support when adapting to living away from home- Participating in fit for work program - Actively participating in recreational and educational programs - Becoming role models for the community and the program - Assist with personal financial goals and budgeting for leave. - Assist in fostering positive relationships with other trainees - Assist trainees in developing positive attitudes to work - Assist with facilitating a residential leadership group within the traineeship. Provide relief work when required to other members of the Indigenous Engagement Team.Ensure policies and procedures are being followed and ensuring all information is handled respectfully and confidentially.Contribute to the evaluation & assessment of the traineeship program and processes to ensure it is successful for Indigenous people.Support and promote the work of IET, maintaining a positive image of the organisation in accordance with level of position. Assist ARR in the promotion the well-being of Indigenous people and the Yulara community. Key criteria:Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a knowledge and understanding of their culture.Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage Indigenous Australians to take up and remain in employment, ability to address issues that threaten employment placements and the ability to build and maintain professional mentoring programs.Excellent communication skills including negotiation, problem solving, advocacy, conflict resolution, assessment and the ability to quickly create rapport.Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities and to achieve outcomes in a performance driven environment.Ability to work as an effective team member through fostering a cooperative, professional and positive work atmosphere.Information Technology skills and administration skills including the demonstrated ability to use MS Office applications, internet and email and to maintain accurate records (electronic and paper-based).Manual Drivers licence and Working with Children check Desirable criteria:Certificate III in Community Services (or similar)Experience working in a boarding/residential facilityExperience in the hospitality or tourism industry In return we offer you subsidised accommodation, resort discounts, meals on duty, uniform, relocation and vacation bonuses (after qualifying period).
