Positive Living Assistant – Bangalow



Whilst working in the heart of our 64 bed Bangalow village, the Positive Living Assistant works closely with the Team Leader, Resident Support Liaison and volunteers to implement and evaluate the current positive living and lifestyle programs. As a member of the Positive Living Team, a strong focus will be to ensure healthy active aging, falls prevention and community engagement as part of the programs you provide.You will be an exceptional role model for these principles and model of care. You will be instrumental in creating another chapter and a life worth living for residents by contributing to programs that are meaningful and truly offer something special to our residents and their families.This role is a casual vacancy. Shifts will vary from 4.5 to 6 hours depending on when you are rostered, working across 7 days per week. At this stage we anticipate approx. 7 shifts per fortnight on average.What are some of the things I will be doing?Implementing the lifestyle calendar ensuring individual residents recreational needs and wants are catered forContributing to an atmosphere throughout the village where everyday events become an activity and where timeframes and pre-planning become less of a priority - your aim is to create spontaneity and endless opportunities for fun, social interaction, participation and engagementImplementing lifestyle programs that are flexible enough to accommodate unforeseen circumstances at a short noticePlaying a key role in planning theme days and being the coordinator for such events to ensure maximum organisation and participation by residents, staff and visitorsRegularly reviewing programs by completing evaluations of activities and considering feedback received from residents, families and staffProviding support and supervision to volunteersConducting initial assessment documentation for all new admissions to the villageDeveloping individualised care plans, reassess and review these care plans on a 3 monthly basisConfidently using technology such as smart phones, tablets, laptops, video conferencing, GPS and search engines to access information and support our clientsThe boxes you have to tick:Ability to be flexible with days of work due to the casual nature of the roleExperience in providing lifestyle and falls prevention opportunities for older peopleRecent experience creating programs, events and activities specifically for older peopleExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain plans, calendars, surveys and reportsAn interest in complementary therapiesCurrent Senior First Aid CertificateCurrent drivers license and willingness to drive village mini busesPhysical suitability and competence: Physical fitness including (but not limited to): manual handling, carrying, standing/sitting for long periods of timeBrownie Points:Certificate III in Aged Care or working toward itTertiary qualifications in Lifestyle or Leisure & HealthDementia TrainingApply Now!Variety is the spice of life - everyone is welcome and everyone matters at Feros Care.
