Virtual Local Area Coordinator – Northern Adelaide



Feros Care is proud to partner with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to deliver Local Area Coordination services in the Northern Adelaide and Barossa regions. We are looking for a Virtual Local Area Coordinator (VLAC) to join us in empowering people with disability, their families and carers to build, pursue and fulfil their goals and aspirations while exercising choice and control when engaging with the NDIS.  The VLAC conducts all planning meetings virtually from the office. This means you would be using your exceptional customer service skills over the phone and communicating with participants, their representatives, and the wider community, through various forms of technology including Microsoft Teams.  This position would suit anyone with drive and passion that wants to be part of a bold, inclusive and accessible workplace.  This position is a full time, fixed term contract to June 2021.About us We want our team to be made up of people from all walks of life. We harness a culture that embraces individual differences in all its glory and values cultural intelligence. Feros Care is committed to achieving a diverse workforce and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disability. What will I be responsible for? Working with participants to collect information to enable the pre-planning and initial plan to be developed as effectively as possible Guiding and assisting participants over the phone to develop their options and build capacity to undertake self-management Receiving and managing phone calls from participants, families and the community Assisting people deemed by NDIS as not eligible for Scheme, their families, and carers with information linkages and supports to utilise natural supports and connect with their community Working to daily statistics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Assisting in organising and planning community events, information sessions and presentations Supporting technology ordering and liaising with NDIS IT support Supporting the day-to-day operations of local LACs by providing administration, phone and events management support.  About you: Have relevant work experience, lived experience, or hold a relevant qualification in disability, community services or other health related discipline Adaptable to change and resilient in a fast paced and ever-changing environment  Positive and respectful communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills  Committed to supporting others and sharing knowledge in a team environment   Demonstrated experience or sound understanding of person-centred strengths-based planning and review  Demonstrated experience or commitment to working with and delivering high quality services to people with disability, their families, carers and local communities  Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to build and strengthen capacity and inclusive community practices  Confident and everyday user of technology and the internet  Available to attend initial training and orientation for first 4 weeks of employment   Work perks (the goodies!): Salary packaging (up to $15,899 per annum) Access to our Employee Assistance Program Free access to health and fitness clubs  Ongoing training and development (face-to-face and online learning)   Plus, meaningful experiences through empowering people with disability, their families and carers, and the wider community  The selection process To find the best possible LACs for our team, we have a thorough recruitment process in which you will need to go through in order to become a successful LAC. The first step is completing an online application. This includes several pre-screening questions. Some questions require detailed responses, explaining your previous experience and skills.
