Our Feros Volunteer Bus Drivers, and Bus Buddies are Kindness Warriors, who are passionate about connecting our seniors to their community to reduce their isolation, and to rekindle their interest and zest for life and their local community. There are two roles for volunteers who are interested in supporting seniors in our trips! The first is as the Bus Driver, and the following are the tasks involved in this role: Collect clients from their homes to accompany them to new and exciting events from the Feros Care Social CalendarOn any day, a Volunteer might be visiting a brewery, cruising down a river, sharing lunch at a fabulous restaurant or visiting an art galleryGreet clients at their door with a big smile and provide assistance entering and departing the minibusCreate a friendly, fun and relaxed atmosphere that gets every one enjoying themselves on the bus tripActively join in during social outings and provide any assistance that may be requiredEnsure the privacy, confidentiality and dignity of clients is maintained at all times Read satellite navigation maps, follow a schedule and complete vehicle logsEnsure clients feel comfortable and safe on trips. For example, seat belts are fastened and mobility aids are securely storedBus Buddy's are there to accompany the bus driver, to assist our seniors on and off the bus, and provide a companion and friendly face on the bus to those who are travelling. A Bus Buddy will; Assist seniors from their home into the bussupport the bus driver with travel and parking etcGreet clients and encourage fun and frivolity on the bus- add some volunteer sparkleBe the best Buddy on the bus, there to answer questions, or to make the guests feel at easeBoth the driver and the Buddy get to enjoy the excursion as well as assisting those on the bus, and the day includes a free lunch for the volunteers, as well as free entry into the excursions. Our roles are in the following regions: Gold Coast- Volunteer Driver & Volunteer Bus BuddyAll of our volunteers participate in a thorough induction and training process for their role, and Feros Care encourage applications from volunteers who are compassionate and willing to welcome clients from across our communities.
