Our Feros Volunteer Bus Drivers are Kindness Warriors passionate about connecting our seniors to their community to reduce their isolation, rekindle their interest and zest for life.Seeking volunteer drivers based in Far North Coast and Gold Coast to transport our senior clients at the Feros residential villages in Wommin Bay, Bangalow, or Byron Bay on various outings into the community.The roleVolunteer drivers assist our seniors on and off the bus, ensuring seatbelts and wheelchair seatbelts are correctly applied. They are also there to provide a fun, exciting drive along the way, be a companion and friendly face to those traveling on excursions into the community.Volunteer drivers have access to one of the Feros fleet vehicles or a 12-seater bus to make the trip, collected at the Feros residential facility at the commencement of their volunteer day.The following are the tasks involved in this role: Assist seniors from the facility into the bus utilising the hoist, and ensuring seatbelts are used correctlyDrive independently mobile residents to and from external appointments (allied health, beauty, medical, etc.)Transport the clients to medical appointments on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW regionsGreet clients and encourage fun conversations during travelAnswer questions and make the guests feel at easeThis role offers volunteers some flexibility in their position and an opportunity to help the most disadvantaged access their community for essential appointments.Drivers can enjoy complimentary morning tea and refreshments during the outing or at the centre when leaving and arriving back to the village.What does our ideal volunteer look like?Embodies a friendly and cheerful volunteer spiritHave a current unrestricted Driver's LicenceReady to smash stereotypes around agingAble and willing to travel with clients on excursions or assist them in accessing their community  accompanied with or without a Feros staff memberThrives on helping others and energised by their interactions with peopleContributes to the greater success of the organisation and is aligned with the organisational valuesOperates with integrity, open-mindedness, and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is maintained at all timesWhat to bring:Demonstrated ability to provide a fun client-focused interactionEnjoy going out and helping to create a greater communityCompassionate, patient, observant, and a good listenerBe willing to undergo a free national police check and NDIS screening checkOpen to getting the flu and Covid vaccinations, and provide valid evidenceFor brownie points:Previous experience working with or volunteering with seniorsBe a safe and confident driver with a good driving historyFirst Aid and CPR CertificateThink age is just a number?
