Workplace Health and Safety Officer



We’re on the hunt for a driven Workplace Health & Safety Officer to join our amazing Quality, Risk and Compliance team.Please note this is a full time position on a 3 years' fixed term contract. The Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WPHS) is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of systems that allow the organisation to meet its legal obligations to the WHS and Environmental legislation, regulations and Safe Work Australia practice guidance within the states and territories in which Feros Care operates.The WPHS Officer will provide advice, recommendations and assistance to the business on a broad range of WHS matters. This will include providing advice and building internal capability in relation to Feros Care's WHS policy, preventative practices, systems and strategies aimed at minimising workplace risks, accidents and injuries.The WPHS officer will work with areas within the business to create a positive safety culture and build organisational WHS maturity. This will include ongoing development and monitoring of the WHS framework, WHS metrics, incident investigation protocols, root cause analysis, reporting and consultation.The boxes you have to tick:Demonstrated understanding of OH&S and environmental aspects, awareness of the legal requirements, legal codes, government regulations and agency rules for OH&S and the environmentDemonstrated understanding of all aspects of Manual Handling Code of Practice (all jurisdictions)Demonstrated experience developing and monitoring manual handling policy, procedures and program including oversight of manual handling trainers and competency to support safe manual handling practices across Feros CareDemonstrated professional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.Demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts to differing audiences, including own peer group Ability to engage in and promote the continued flow of information across all departments and levels of Feros CareDemonstrated experience providing support for continued research and development in the area of OH&S and the environmentAbility to provide training on relevant OH&S and environmental issues for plant and office personnelQualifications, Certificates and Registrations:Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety, Graduate Diploma in Work Health Safety or equivalent Manual Handling qualification/assessor/trainer certificate or higher For bonus points:Previous experience working within the aged and/or community care industryAbout Feros Care:Feros Care is a multi-award winning not-for-profit organisation offering a range of aged, disability and community care services.
